Happy Labor Day weekend from all of us at the City of Independence!

The Truman Memorial Building, Palmer Center and National Frontier Trails Museum will be closed Friday, Sept. 4, due to SantaCaliGon Days. Most City facilities will also be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Discover our historic built environment on this challenging architectural-inspired tour. Visit local historic buildings and look for architectural elements as part of a city-wide scavenger hunt. Gather pictures of the objects and submit your completed list for a prize. Prizes will be awarded for the first twenty individuals or teams (one prize per team) to complete the challenge. Hunts must be completed and submitted by May 31, 2026.
