The Truman Memorial Building, Palmer Center and National Frontier Trails Museum will be closed Friday, Sept. 4, due to SantaCaliGon Days. Most City facilities will also be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Independence Emergency Preparedness Department will hold Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training sessions in September at the Emergency Operations Center. 

The CERT Program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live. 

Trainings Include: 

  • Learn About Disaster Preparedness
  • Basic First Aid
  • Fire Safety
  • CERT volunteer opportunities 
  • Real-life Demonstration

Training Schedule:

  • Sept. 20, 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
  • Sept. 21, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Sept. 27, 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM
  • Sept. 28, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
