Chief Walker

As your Fire Chief, it is my honor and privilege to serve this community alongside our dedicated team of firefighters and emergency responders. Every day, we work tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of you, your families, and our neighborhoods. We are committed to providing the highest level of fire protection, emergency medical services, and disaster response, and we are always here when you need us most.

Safety is a shared responsibility, and we encourage all residents to take proactive steps to protect their homes, businesses, and loved ones. Whether it’s practicing fire drills, creating an emergency preparedness plan, learning CPR or ensuring that smoke detectors are working, your actions play a vital role in reducing risk and saving lives.

In addition to our emergency response efforts, we strive to be a proactive part of the community through fire prevention education, community outreach, and public safety programs. Together, we can work toward creating a safer, more resilient City of Independence.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Your trust in our department means the world to us, and we are proud to serve you with integrity, professionalism, and compassion every day.

Stay safe and remember: Prevention Saves Lives.

Sincerely,
Jimmy Walker
