The FIFA World Cup Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters about the FIFA World Cup. The Kansas City metro will host six total FIFA World Cup matches in June and July of 2026 -- four in the group stage, one in the round of 32, and one quarterfinal. The Committee will advise the Council on how to leverage these events in a way that raises the profile of Independence on an international stage while also looking to benefit from the economic impact of this event. It is expected that the committee would provide regular updates and make recommendations to the City Council on how best to leverage the magnitude of the event for the benefit of Independence.
