Independence Economic Development and Incentive Commission

The Economic Development and Incentive Commission shall serve as an advisory body to the City Council as it relates to the consideration of economic development and incentive proposals submitted by interested parties or initiated by any public agency.

Membership Information

That the Independence Economic Development and Incentive Commission membership shall serve without compensation and be appointed as follows:

Two members shall be appointed by the school boards, whose districts are included within the redevelopment plan or redevelopment area. Such members shall be appointed in any manner agreed upon by the affected districts;
Two members shall be appointed by Jackson County. Such members shall be appointed in any manner agreed upon by Jackson County;
One member shall be appointed, in any manner agreed upon by the affected districts, to represent all other districts levying ad valorem taxes within the area selected for a redevelopment project or the redevelopment area, excluding representatives of the City Council; and,
Six members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the majority of the City Council.
