City of Independence announces new Chief of Police

The City of Independence today announced that Interim Chief Adam Dustman has been selected as the next Chief of Police for the Independence Police Department. Interim Chief Dustman has served in this position since he was appointed in February 2022.

Cooling Site Activated: Due to extreme heat, the Roger T. Sermon Community Center, 201 N. Dodgion, has been activated as a cooling site: August 1 - 1-8P, August 2-3 - 8A-8P.

City of Independence Cooling Site will be open Aug. 1-3

The Roger T. Sermon Community Center, 201 N. Dodgion St., will be available as a cooling site center Monday, August 1, from 1 p.m. to 8 pm. And Tuesday, August 2, and Wednesday, August 3, from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. as a cooling site.
