Annual Fireworks Show Returns in 2022

Today the City of Independence announced the Independence Day Celebration will return on Saturday, July 2. The event is made possible through the partnership between the City and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Independence Stake.

Designate Your Property on the Local Register and Qualify for a Free Plaque

Do you live in a historic house? Would you like to have your property recognized through local historic designation? Your property may be eligible for a free brass plaque highlighting the date of construction. Homes must be over 100 years of age and property owners must first list their homes on the Independence Local Register of Historic Places to qualify. Plaques are available for new designations only.
