Councilmember Jackie Dorman

Independence City Council Member At-Large Jackie Dorman was elected in April 2026 on a platform focused on restoring faith in city government, welcoming and supporting small businesses, improving communication and citizen engagement, and ensuring voters have a voice in major city decisions.

Jackie currently serves on the Public Utility Advisory Board and the Human Relations Commission, and serves as the Mayor’s representative for the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Board.

A lifelong professional with extensive experience in business, leadership, and community service, Jackie earned a degree in communications from Central Methodist University and a Master of Science in Management from Baker University.

Jackie spent many years in the corporate sector, including working for a nationally recognized mutual fund company named one of the Forbes Top 100 Companies to Work For. During her career, she served as a Training and Organizational Development Manager and Project Manager, helping lead teams, improve communication, and develop employees and organizational systems. She also served as an adjunct faculty member for Baker University.

In addition to her corporate experience, Jackie has been a realtor for 22 years, helping individuals and families achieve homeownership and invest in the community.

Serving on the City Council is Jackie’s first elected office. She is committed to helping make Independence a city where people want to work, live, and visit.
