Kevin King is the mayor of Independence, Missouri, who won the election on April 7, 2026.

He is a lifelong resident of the city and built his career as a union roofer, later serving as a business manager for Roofers Local 20, where he gained experience in leadership, negotiation, and community advocacy. He also stressed the importance of transparency and better communication between city officials and the community.

As mayor, King aims to bring a hands-on, community-driven approach to leadership, drawing on his background in labor and deep roots in Independence to guide his decisions and strengthen the city’s future.
