IndeGO Bond FAQs: Historic Sites and Independence Athletic Complex

The bond package includes $5 million to upgrade the existing Independence Athletic Complex.

The bond package includes $7 million in improvements and repairs to the Vaile Mansion, Bingham-Waggoner Estate, and the Truman Memorial Building.

The proposal suggests approximately $2.2 million for Vaile Mansion, $3.8 million for Bingham-Waggoner and $1 million for Truman Memorial Building.

The City of Independence owns the Vaile Mansion, Bingham-Waggoner Estate, and the Truman Memorial Building.  All three are historic - and starting to show their age. While serving as pieces of history, these properties also host a variety of community events throughout the year.

In order to preserve these buildings for generations to come, repairs must be made now.
