Buildings closed 5/8/2026

Happy Truman Day! Most City government buildings will be closed on Friday, May 8, 2026, in observance of the holiday. The holiday celebrates the 33rd president of the United States, Harry S. Truman.

Independence Power & Light customers may see contractors working in rights-of-way throughout the City from April 22 to May 2. Osmose crews will be inspecting all wood transmission poles on the IPL system. Please give them space to safely complete this important work.

Rate schedules for the City of Independence are established by ordinance.  Below you will find links for electric, sewer, and water rates.
