Councilmember Jennie Vaught

Jennie was raised in historic Northeast Kansas City, Mo. She graduated from Northeast High School, then attended Independence College of Cosmetology to pursue her passion for creativity, self-expression, and helping others to feel confident. 

Jennie is a successful 20-year business owner where her commitment to service is evident in every aspect of her professional life.

Outside of her business, Jennie is deeply involved in her church where she serves in various capacities and contributes her time on two committees, being the chair of one.

Since 2005, Jennie and her husband Eric have made Independence home, raised their three grown children, and now proudly enjoy the role of grandparents to their granddaughter.
