Police Records

The Independence Police Records Unit mission is to provide quality customer service to members of our community, our department, and other governmental agencies within an atmosphere of individual integrity and mutual respect. The Records Unit is responsible for the accurate processing, storage, and appropriate dissemination of police reports and criminal justice information per Federal, State and local laws in a timely and courteous manner, and the facilitation of the effective flow of information within the department.

Open Records Requests

Any request for Police records can be made through the Custodian of Records, pursuant to Chapter 610, RSMo (Missouri's "Sunshine Law").

  • Police Records: To request police records, including a copy of a police report, body cam footage, 911 calls, or information on how to obtain a criminal history, please contact the Records Unit at recordsrequests@indepmo.org
  • City Records:  All other records, including fire reports, can be requested from the City Clerk via email at cityclerk@indepmo.org
  • Municipal Court Records: Please contact the Municipal Court's Records Unit at imc@indepmo.org
