The driving tour includes five stops for the First Battle of Independence, one of the first urban battles of the Civil War on August 11, 1862. Ten stops for the Second Battle of Independence, the Battle of the Little Blue on October 21 – 22, 1864 — a battle between 15,000 Union and Confederate forces.
