Proper disposal of household hazardous wastes makes homes safer and reduces health risks. The average home can accumulate as much as 100 pounds of chemical waste each year from common household and lawn & garden products such as paint, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, pesticides, weed killers, fertilizers, antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs.
In 2025, the Independence Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event will occur on Saturday, April 26, from 9 AM-1 PM on the Independence Square in the parking lot located at the intersection of Walnut and Liberty. Proof of residency is required.
