Parks

The Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department maintains nearly 800 park acres, comprised of 48 parks and sites and 43 athletic fields. Whether you are looking for a place to exercise, a place to play or a place to gather with family and friends, our robust network of parks, trails and natural spaces are sure to meet your needs. 

• All Independence Parks and parking lots are open to the public from 6 am-11 pm. 
• Check times at George Owens Nature Park when the park gate closes. 
• Restrooms automatically lock after parks close each night. Available mid-April through October and then winterized the rest of the year. Waterfall Park restrooms remain open all year long.
